This research project explored the link between participation in sports during early life and cardiovascular risk factors in a randomly selected sample of community-dwelling adults.
A sample of 265 adults, all 18 years of age or older, was used for this study. Cardiovascular risk factors, consisting of obesity, central obesity, diabetes, dyslipidemia, and hypertension, were the subject of data collection. Using a suitable instrument, early sports practice was retrospectively self-reported. Accelerometry provided an assessment of the total physical activity level. Early sports participation's association with adulthood cardiovascular risk factors was assessed by a binary logistic regression model, factoring in the effects of sex, age, socioeconomic status, and moderate-to-vigorous physical activity.
